Eagle Ford Shale
The Eagle Ford shale is our largest producing area providing 90 percent of our total production. We hold nearly 65,000 acres in the Eagle Ford shale with more than three-quarters located in the liquids-producing area. The majority of our leases are held with 100 percent working interests.
Our primary producing area in 2011 was from the Gates Ranch area where our development success led to double-digit production increases and a doubling of our reserve base. During 2012, we have expanded our drilling programs to include Karnes Trough, Briscoe Ranch and Central Dimmit locations. We also plan to evaluate the majority of our remaining previously untested 10,000 acres in the Eagle Ford. Approximately 11 percent of our identified Eagle Ford inventory is drilled and on production.
Production from the Eagle Ford shale averaged 36.6 thousand barrels of oil equivalent per day for the first quarter of 2012, a 13 percent increase from the previous quarter. As of September 30, 2012, Rosetta has completed a total of 107 horizontal Eagle Ford wells.
